Amanda Bernstein - Essential Me
Is a Birth and Postpartum Doula based in Sydney, Australia. She is truly passionate about ensuring women and couples are supported and educated about their options, and able to make empowering decisions around their birth from a place of informed choice. She believes that this way, no matter the outcome of this journey to meet their baby, it will be a positive experience that sets her clients up to a great start as parents. Amanda is also a VBAC mum of two gorgeous boys, Ka Huna massage therapist and Pilates instructor.
Amanda will be speaking about ways to increase your oxytocin (the love hormone) and how in this busy world we live in, we can find ways to carve out time for self-care, as well as the sorts of things we can do to practise self-care. It’s so important that we give back to ourselves, so that we have time for others. And it’s just as important to find time to nurture our relationships to stay connected during the tricky early postpartum days

Cheryl Fingleson - Cheryl the Sleep Coach
Is an experienced, empathic sleep coach based in Sydney. Cheryl works with families across a range of areas, including settling and sleep techniques, establishing a good routine, safe co-sleeping, and identifying signs of postpartum depression. She also cares deeply about the sleep wellness of parents, who are adjusting to life in pregnancy and with a newborn. Their wellness and sleep in pregnancy is ultimately important. Understanding the varies sleep cycles and the different sleep position will improve healing sleep.
Cheryl would like parents to know that they don’t have to feel like they’re struggling through the journey on their own, there is help from a trained professional.
Cheryl's passion for empowering parents with positive, proactive and gentle sleep techniques first became obvious to her after being involved in a paediatric ward for many months. Seeing tired, exhausted and desperate parents with no-one to turn to for support led her to fulfil a dream – to guide mothers, fathers and families through their learning process and/or through times of crisis.
After years of research, study and personal experience to become a internationally certified gentle sleep coach she feels qualified and confident to find an individualised in-house solution to guide and support your sleepless nights as well as your babies feeding and associated difficulties.
As a mother herself, Cheryl knows very well, the feelings of agony and desperation when you have a child that struggles to settle and sleep. She doesn’t believe in leaving babies or children to cry it out (CIO), nor in the practices of controlled crying. Every child is different, and has his/her own sleep needs. Cheryl offers in-home and overnight consultations for Sydney clients, as well as virtual consultations via phone, Skype or Zoom for those living nationally or internationally.
As an expert in all things sleep-related, she's also a regular in the media and has been seen on the Today Show, Sunrise, Studio 10 and on the news.
Background:
Cheryl completed The Gentle Sleep Coach Program, the first and most extensive professional sleep coaching certification program available. The program involves over 80 hours of training, an exam and participation in case supervision with Kim West, LCSW-C (a.k.a. “the Sleep Lady”) who has been helping tired parents for over 17 years. Clinical supervision and ongoing advanced training are required to maintain certification as a Gentle Sleep Coach.
Cheryl also completed an exclusive advanced training series directly centered around how to gently work with babies 4 and 5 months of age. This program consists of over 40 hours of instruction and mentorship.
Cheryl has also completed:
The Clinical Psychology of Children and Young people
University of Edinburgh

Kirsty Levin - The Parents Village Group
Psychologist, Career Coach and Co-founder at The Parents Village with Clinical Social Worker/Therapist – Lana Sussman.
Kirsty Levin is a Psychologist and Career Coach with a special interest in perinatal mental health and parenthood transition. Her career over the last 18 years spans across the corporate and public sectors, and now in private practice at The Parents Village, a perinatal support service in Sydney.
The birth of her first child back in 2012 planted the seed for a shift in direction for Kirsty as she struggled to adjust to new parenthood with her husband, whilst juggling her career.
The shock to the system was great and she wished she had been better informed and upskilled for her new job and identity. Her experience, along with her observation of countless others who also felt unsupported and unprepared, lead to her change of specialisation to the perinatal domain, and fuelled her passion to work with expectant and new parents.
Her other baby was conceived – The Parents Village, and its first program - Birthing The Parent - a unique prenatal workshop designed to effectively prepare couples for parenthood transition.
Since then, both her family and The Parents Village has grown, and Kirsty now works with parents at all stages, coaching and counselling them through their career and personal challenges pre and postnatally, with her co-founder and business partner Lana Sussman (a Clinical Social Worker and Therapist).
